Do you ever wonder?
What is it that causes us to keep working creatively? Especially when life presses in and it gets hard to find the time and energy. Yet, we are still drawn to the studio, to paint, to draw, to use color and line and shape.
The answers seem to be a deep well…. so much deeper than “creating is something I like to do”, because quite honestly, creating can be hard. It can be a struggle… draining. (Fortunately, it can also be fulfilling and uplifting!). I wonder if you also live in that tension of struggle and yet are drawn back to your creative work.
Plumbing the depths of the well reveals that there is so much to discover! And this ignites my spirit!
We, who are creators, are designed purposely….
we are bearing the image of our Creator.
Yes, it is built into our very DNA, just as a child inherits hair color or eye color or mannerisms from a parent! Our Father, Creator of all things, has placed within us His creative impulses…purposefully! This is His invitation to us to share in His creative mission, a work that did not end on the 6th day of creation! Exciting, isn’t it? That idea energizes me!
Even if it is hard to imagine yourself an artist – but yet, you are drawn to creative expression in a myriad of possibilities, you share in His invitation! Dare to embrace it and nurture it! Let it take root! You are meant to bring light and goodness into a world that has great need of it!
The well is deep! Tell me your thoughts ~ how have you been invited into this wonderful calling? Let’s embrace it together!
